Review: Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

I'm back with another foundation review! Probably a foundation everyone has already seen reviews for. I could not, for a month, find the #805 which is Ivory. Go to Target, sold out. Go to Harmon's, sold out. Finally on March 22nd, I GOT IT!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm critical when it comes to concealer and foundation.

So now, onward to the review!

Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

All-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long.

Shade: After hearing/reading that these shades can either run darker than the shade you would normally purchase, or lighter than the shade. I didn't know what to expect when I purchased Ivory #805, which is the lightest shade in the 3 in 1 line. Also wanted to make a note that, this is the only foundation I have that has an expiration date on it too.

Packaging: The foundation comes in a thick glass bottle with a blue plastic pump. I have to say, when it comes to packaging and foundations, I do prefer a pump to get the product out. No issues with the pump with this, I haven't had it clog on me. Plus, for me, it's easy to control the amount of product that is released.

Texture: It's creamy, with almost a liquid-y feel to it. It doesn't dry down quickly, so it isn't necessary to work fast when applying it. When It does dry down, it dries to a smooth powder-like finish.

Foundation vs. Black Liquid liner
Blending: I haven't had any issues with it blending at all. Although it's suggested to use either a sponge or clean fingers, I very much prefer using a brush to apply.

Coverage: Definitely medium to full. As you can see with the black liquid liner, the foundation covered it up fairly well. I'm sure if I had done another coat, it'd be gone. But alas, the liner wasn't water proof, d'oh! Maybe I'll try permanent marker with the next foundation. On the face though, I've only used this at its medium coverage, and still even with that, it covers fairly well.

Wear Time: Going through my typical day, starting from 8:30am to 12am, the wear time on this is amazing. I haven't notice any foundation break down during the day. Just a slight dewiness probably after 8 hours of wear, but definitely not an oil slick or anything. I can actually say that, I didn't need to set this foundation with powder to make it last longer.

Now the 3 in 1 claims. We already know it's a foundation, but what about the other 2 claims.

1. Primer: I'm not terribly sure if I would say that this has a primer aspect to it. It does feel smooth going on, but I also wear primer under it to begin with. So, I might not be able to tell due to that.

2. Concealer: I'm on the fence with this. While the coverage overall is wonderful, I still have to use a concealer to conceal under my eyes and any blemishes on my face. So, I would say this is 50/50, it does tone down redness to blemishes and to any color on the cheeks, but not 100%.

Overall Verdict: In the past I've had issues with Cover Girl. Anytime I would purchased the lightest shade, it'd turn into a horrible disaster. "Ivory" would be 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone, and would oxidize terribly. With the new 3 in 1 foundation, in the bottle it does come across as looking darker, plus grey because there is SPF 20 in it, but going on the skin, I think it's a good match. The finish is beautiful, the lasting power is amazing. I can't say anything bad about this foundation, and trust me I was immensely skeptical when I bought it simply due to my past history with CG.

Price: $9.97 at Target, the price from my understanding varies.

Availability: Anywhere that Cover Girl is sold.

  1. Must check this out!
Also I liked how you swatched over the black eyeliner to show how much coverage the product has! Kudos!

  2. I've only ever purchased one CoverGirl foundation and I wasn't happy with it at all! Wish we had this particular one here though, it sounds great!

  3. Great, thorough review! Many thanks. :) I'm looking for a foundation to cover up cystic acne and some lighter hyperpigmentation. I've heard mixed reviews on coverage, but I can't wait to try it out myself. Thanks!

  5. Hi! You think that shade 805 is equivalent to nc15 Mac? Thanks!
