I'm sure many of you have heard of Sally Girl, if not this is a cosmetic brand that is from the Sally Beauty Supply chain. They have mini glosses, mini polishes, baked eye shadows, and more. But this post is focusing on three of the eye shadows that come from the Sally Girl Connecting Compacts.
I've actually had a couple of these before, and never quite thought much of them. I had them years ago back, I think when Sally Beauty introduced Sally Girl. At the time, they were chalky and hardly pigmented. Seldom hits, mostly misses. But after revisiting these eye shadows, I feel that a review was very much needed!
So, without further ado, on to the review!
Cranberry |
Color: Cranberry. This was actually a confusing color for me, namely because in the palette it appears more pink-mauve. On the lid, it comes across as a burnt mauve-brown. Best way I can describe it. The finish on it, I would say is a frost.
Black Brown |
Color: Black Brown. This one is more of a semi-matte frost. There's a slightly sheen to it, but not as much as Cranberry. The color itself, is a light brown. I also want to say there's a slight smidgen of orange in there, so it isn't a true brown.
Auburn |
Connecting: The way that these little compacts connect, they just slide together. The right side of the compact has an indent, while the left side has the notch that slides into the indent. They will not slide apart unless there is slight pressure as there are two little bumps within the indent to basically lock the sides together.
Ingredients: mica, talc, ethylhexyl, palmitate, magnesium stearate, tocopheryl acetate, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, ascorbyl palmitate, sorbic acid, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ultramarines, manganese violet.
Overall Verdict: I'm definitely glad that I gave these another go, I absolutely love them! I love the way they look without a base, but with a primer on, they vivid colors come right out. My favorite though is Auburn, which I have worn alone during the work week, but I have also paired it with a simple matte black eye shadow in the crease and outer v, making Auburn REALLY pop. So yes, I will be making another trip to Sally Beauty to pick up some more colors.
Price: $.99 ($.94 if you have a Beauty Club card).
Availability: Sally Beauty Supply stores or Sally Beauty online.
Lovely colours! Great price too and I'd love to try them out sometime :)
