Review: BA Star Holiday Red Lip Pencil

Review time! I received from BA Star via Brand Backer their Holiday Red Lip Pencil. I'm usually leery of wearing a red lip due to the shade and undertone, but I went with it!

Packaging: Simple and sleek. It's a thick pencil with a black barrel and silver font. The end cap is silver which matches the font. The top cap is clear with two thin stripes of silver at the very top tying into the silver font.

Ingredients: Isopolybutene, Castor Oil, Ozokenite, Carnuaba, Candellina Wax, Beeswax, Petrolium, Buty Stearate, Cetyk Ricinoleate, Vitamin E, Precpylparaben, Metabylparaben, BHT, Macadamia Nut Oil, Octyl Palmiate; May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ti02,D&C Red 27 D&C Red 30 D&C Red 28

Scent: Kind of a vanilla scent, could just be me though.

Color: Vivid red that has a blue undertone to it. At first glance though, it appears to have a gold-ish sheen at the start, once you being applying it though, the frosty sheen disappears. I definitely have to say that it has a satin-like finish.

Texture/Formula: Smooth and creamy.

Overall Verdict: Definitely one of those worrisome colors for me due to the blue undertone. Other than that it is a beautiful color with a lovely finish. I did notice a little bit a staining though on the lips as the swatch on my hand. Besides that, this is a moisturizing lip pencil, plus I didn't notice any feathering. I would recommend this, especially for the up and coming holiday season.

Review: Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer

I hope everyone had a fantastic July 4th if you're in the states! I spent mine at work ;x Which is fine, I did see fireworks on the way home though.

So! While I had been at Walgreens a while ago (maybe 2 weeks or so ago?), I saw that they had got in new products from Rimmel London. Other Walgreens had full displays of various new products, mine however, did not, or they're hiding it in the backroom. They did have the display out for the Show Off Lip Lacquers.
Many have been waiting for these Lip Lacquers to come over state side from the U.K.

What I would love to know is, why did Rimmel change the name from Apocalips to Show Off though. I honestly prefer the name Apocalips. That's just me though.

Anyway, on to the review!

Review: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon

After standing in front of Revlon's new display for their Pacific Coast Collection (by Gucci Westman), I ended up finally deciding on which Lip Butter to purchase. I think it's built into me to by neutral tones for lips. This time around I decided on Wild Watermelon!

Going out of my comfort zone because I did not know how this would look on my vampire like skin. Haha, wait I don't sparkle, I swear!

Review: Studio Gear Complete Color Luscious Lip Shine

If you took a gander at my review on the Impactfull T.L.S. Mascara from Studio Gear, then you know that I was sent two other items along with the mascara. 

One of the other items I was sent was Temptress from Studio Gear's Complete Color Luscious Lip Shine line. 

Now as a fair warning, swatches for lip products can go either way. I've been trying to get into a habit (why did I want to type Hobbit there) of doing lip swatches which would be the case for this post. However, my face had other plans, apparently my chin decided it wanted to host a party. The party guests didn't want to go into hiding. So when the party actually decides to leave, I'll then edit this post with a lip swatch. Those darn face parties.

Ok, enough of that, onwards and upwards to the review!

Review: NYX Butter Gloss

Can I just say how delighted I was that not only one, but TWO Harmons Discount stores I go to had the new NYX Butter Glosses? I may have scared some of the customers because of how excited I was.

The first Harmons I went to actually had very few to pick from (they were sold out of the popular colors). The second one, which is actually my local one, had every single color in stock!

Somehow I managed to limit myself to just two, and I'm thrilled with the two that I purchased.

Review: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick

I'm not due into work until 1pm, but I don't know if that will be happening because it's snowing!

Just for the record, I'm actually attempting a lip swatch this go around as well! Be afraid, be very afraid!

Ended up venturing to Target yesterday and picked up this Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in #001 Perfect Peony.

I'm not usually one for lip products, it's normally just a tinted lip balm and I'm gone. On occasion I will pick one up for one reason or another. For this one, the color caught my eye.

Doe foot applicator

Packaging: Sleek and sturdy. Almost giving an illusion that the real tube is encased in "glass". It comes with a doe foot applicator. BUT. Yes, but. While the outside is lovely, I have a severe issue with the "inside". I don't know if it's just mine, but there doesn't seem to be a stopper inside the tube to pull the excess liquid lipstick from the applicator. It just globs out and gets all over the place. Too much on the applicator, which results in too much around the lip of the tube.

Color: I'd have to say it's a mauve-berry. Definitely shimmer there, but not too much, just enough.

Swatch

Texture: It starts out very creamy and smooth. I was actually surprised. THEN it dries down to a matte-esque texture, and becomes rather sticky/tacky. I wasn't expecting that. It wasn't something that I really liked. The color makes up for it though.

Removal: I probably do the unconventional way of removal. Napkin. Yes, I normally just grab a napkin to remove my lipsticks. I shouldn't, but I do. This liquid lipstick actually stuck! After I finally got the liquid lipstick removed, it left my lips feeling very dry, with what felt like a residue left over.

Overall: I do like the color. I just didn't like how the liquid lipstick dried down. I'm sure it is workable though. Probably just adding a lipgloss or balm over it, might perk it back up.
