Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was getting my July favorites ready, so now... it's July favorites time! This go around it seems like a lot, but I think it's because of the polishes. I had a lot of favorite polishes for July.

Wet n Wild Coverall Cream Foundation in Fair [review]

 Once again, in the favorites. This has pretty much become my HG foundation. It actually survived a few heat waves beautifully, which I was completely surprised by.

Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara [review]

Proven to enhance the natural lash up to 8X, this all-in-one formula is enriched with Kernel Oil to permeate and condition each lash to promote healthy, strong hairs while adding color and shine.

Although I have enough mascaras to use, I seem to keep reaching for this one, and one other which I'll get to. Again, this is another product that held up during the heat waves as well. No smudging or raccoon eyes!

If you didn't realize it, pretty much all of July, I used various combinations of the polishes listed above. While these polishes do change colors in sunlight, I preferred them in their neon-goodness overall. 

Color Club 0 - 60 Speedy Top Coat

A super fast drying, shiny top coat.  Dries in 60 seconds!

So, I had decided to try another top coat, besides the Sally Hansen one that I was using. I went with this one and can say that I was completely impressed. 60 seconds dry indeed! Although dry on the top, I wouldn't necessarily go do hard work because the under layers still are wet enough to put a dent into them. But I still like it overall.

Londontown kur Nail Hardener [review]

Works to replenish strength and maintain healthy nail protein (keratin) and natural oil balances to protect against cracking, chipping, splitting and peeling nails.

Created with a combination of Britain's rapeseed flower oil and a unique blend of natural extracts and vitamins to repair and hydrate dry, brittle, weak and soft nails.

Definitely the main base coat that I've been using under all my polishes through the month of July.

Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

Revolutionary dual-ended Mascara for 360° all around Lash Glam. Two brushes specifically designed for top and bottom lashes. Special quick-dry formula holds lashes in place 

With this, I've been mainly using the lower lash part of this mascara. Although the upper lash side is wonderful too, I just don't seem to use it as much as the lower lash side.

This was pretty much my go to lippie through the month of July. While I would wear others, this is pretty much the one that I'd always reapply. A bold color, but not terribly so, just a little dab on the lips and I could wear it with a smokey eye.


Sally Girl Eye Shadow Connecting Compacts in Auburn [review]

These things are addicting! Auburn basically became a staple item for me throughout July. It basically made my Saturday "signature" eye look. It's beautifully pigmented which was, indeed, a surprise for me when I first got it, but I absolutely adore the color!

 

 

Shany Cosmetics Natural Fusion Eyeshadow Palette [review coming soon]

Howl's Moving Castle

I'm probably late to the party with finally seeing this movie, but after seeing some gifs on my Tumblr dash, I decided that I wanted to finally see it. Honestly, why on earth did I wait?! I absolutely LOVED the movie, and completely wish they'd make a second one. Now, I want to get the book being there are differences between the two. I never really compare book to movie, but I'm curious as to what was changed. I would highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Tada! June Favorites! Better late than never right? I apologize for the lack of posts recently, the past week has been a bit much to absorb, a lot of sadness, a lot of confusion and mostly me going "what the heck is going on?!".

With that said and a simple intro, so I'm just going to jump right into my favorites :D

Urban Decay Naked Basics [review]

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in Fair [review]

Milani Eye Shadow Primer [review]

I used this through the entire month of June! Normally I'd reach for something else, but this was what I constantly reached for in order to keep my eye shadow fresh looking.

M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Club [rediscovered]

This is an eye shadow that I had for about 2 years, and during the end of May, I picked it back up again. To be honest, I don't even know why I never bothered with this one in the first place. IT IS AMAZING! When I wasn't using Urban Decay Naked Basics, I used Club, with and without a dark base. It's absolutely stunning either way. Plus I always get compliments when wearing it. Plus, plus, plus!

Non-Beauty Related Favorite of the Month

Ignore the finger prints! I need to get a shield still.

My Nook HD+! I got this on sale during Father's Day and I take it with me EVERYWHERE. On Saturdays when I'm at work, I have my music blaring out of this instead of my MP3 player (yeah, I don't have a fancy iPod). I love, love, love this. I'm always playing some type of game on it, plus reading, Yes, reading. I read xD Although I do prefer my Kindle over the Nook when it comes to the reading aspect, which is why I love the fact that you can download the Kindle app and have access still to that account :D

Pictorial: Ba-na-na! ... Papple? Despicable Me Minions Inspired

The original plan (when Despicable Me came out) had been that my co-workers and myself were all going to go, but I wasn't able to make it, so I went with my Mom to see it so I wouldn't be left out of the discussion. They didn't get to see it! ;x But I absolutely loved the movie, especially the minions! Not to mention Agnes (I will have a pictorial for her and her unicorn!). So, when the countdown began for Despicable Me 2 started, I wanted to do a pictorial the day before the release.

The eye inspired look is pretty much simple, seeing as the minions are yellow, with blue overalls, and goggles. I tried to incorporate the silver/grey in for the goggles, but I wanted it to be subtle, seeing as the yellow dominates, not to mention the vibrant blue that I used.

I wanted to use products that were easily accessible to anyone, not to mention there are an array of alternatives out there.

Step 1. Prime the eye. I used Milani's Eyeshadow Primer.

Step 2. I used two different eye pencils that are from J.Cat Beauty called The Big Eye Pencil. The white is called Marshmallow and the sky blue is called Mint Cookie. I used Mint Cookie, and lined my upper lash line, trying to keep it thin towards the inner corner, and thickened it towards the outer corner. Using my Real Techniques Deailer brush, I loaded it with Mint Cookie and carefully went along my lower lash line avoiding the inner corner area.

Then taking Marshmallow, I (again) used my Real Techniques Detailer Brush, loaded it up with the color, and applied it that way instead of using the pencil directly. This gives more control being I didn't want to wash out Mint Cookie. If a bit of the white pencil got onto Mint Cookie, I carefully went back over the color with the pencil, using the tip as much as I could.

Step 3. Taking a very vibrant blue from City Color Special Effect Bright Eye Colors Palette (Color Flash), I loaded my Real Techniques Accent Brush up, and gently patted the color onto Mint Cookie. I did a few swipes of this to make sure it was vibrant enough.

Step 4. Using the same City Color palette from above, I used the yellow in that palette. I loaded it onto my (I think) Tech Studio Smudge brush (I purchased it at Target ages ago) and gently patted it onto the rest of the eye lid, avoiding the blue and the inner corner. This color was not brought down to the lower lash line. I also used the yellow from Wet n Wild Bright Idea palette (LE I believe), not pictured. I only did this to make sure the yellow was intense against the blue.

Step 5/6. For the white I used the same palette as above, plus the same smudge brush and placed the white into the inner corner, blending it into the yellow, then into the blue on the lower lash line. Next to the white is the silver/grey that I used to represent the goggles. I used my e.l.f. Contour Brush (studio line), and using windshield wiper motions, just went back and for in the crease. This comes across as a very sheer grey, so it took a few times to get the color to build up.

Step 7/8. I lined my eyes using Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar. Honestly, an electric blue would work better on the lower lash line, I didn't have one on hand though. For mascara I used Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara, two coats to the top and a very light coat to the bottom.

And you're done!

Quick Post: Eye of the Day Burnt Auburn

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I actually lucked out yesterday (if you follow me on twitter, I mentioned this already), while at work, the country club that is virtually (there's a hotel in between) next to the restaurant set off a brilliant display of fireworks! I wanted them from one of the rooms, then ended up being out onto the upper patio to watch them. Best part was that they were setting off the customers' car alarms. Oops!

Anyway! This is another quick post for yesterday's eye of the day! Apparently this was a look that worked well with my eyes, or so I had been told =\ 

This basically consisted me of "winging it" as I knew the main color I wanted to use, but didn't really have anything beyond that planned out. Whoops! I guess it could be considered a happy mistake? :D

Pictorial: Rockstar Venus Eye of The Day

Pictorial time! This one is for the eye of the day that I posted here from June 15th. I've dubbed it Rockstar Venus, I originally was going to dub it Half Baked Rockstar, but I didn't know how that would pan out haha. 

I ever, so slightly made two changes to it, only because I couldn't find one product (it went MIA) and I accidentally grabbed a different mascara. Neither one really make that big of a difference though. 

So lets start!

Step 1. Priming the eye. I used Milani's Eye Primer. Let it dry for thirty seconds (or more), otherwise if you apply shadow too quickly without letting it set, there will be creasing (I learned the hard way when I first tried it).

Step 2. I started off applying Urban Decay Half Baked (mine is from the Get Baked mini palette) to the center of the eye lid, avoiding the outer and inner corner. Then doing the same to below the lower lash line. This is entirely personal preference though. You can take Half Baked or anything close to it all over the eye lid if you want.

Step 3. Next is Urban Decay Rockstar (from the Mariposa palette), starting at the bare area of the outer corner, then blending it into the crease. I actually trailed it along the crease so that it would almost go into the inner corner. This is just something that I like to do when I'm using a gold-ish color, I just use a smaller brush so that it isn't blending into the gold near the inner corner. Back to the outer corner, I slowly start to build up Rockstar and blend it into Half Baked, bringing it closer to the center of the eye lid, but ending it before hit reaches there. And again, bringing Rockstar down to the lower lash line and blending it into the Half Baked that is there.

Step 4. Taking Urban Decay Crave (from Naked Basics), I only blended this into the outer V. Then repeated the same to the lower lash line, only blending it into the very outer corner there.

Step 5. Next is the inner corner! Using Urban Decay Venus (from Naked Basics), I blended this up into Half Baked, and ever so slightly into the edge of Rockstar. Repeating the same process to the lower lash line.

Step 6. (Not Pictured) Blending Walk of Shame, which matches my skin tone, from Rockstar up to the brow bone to get rid of any harshness above the crease. I normally go back and forth between Walk of Shame and Rockstar above the crease in order to get the right amount of smokiness that I want.

Step 7. Lining the eyes. Originally I had used e.l.f. cream eyeliner on the upper lashes, but I couldn't find it, so I just smudged Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on eyeliner in Rockstar into the lashes, then lined the lower water line with it as well.

Step 8. (not pictured and optional) Curl lashes! I actually did this when I originally did the eye look, but didn't do it with the pictorial.

Step 9. And this is where I grabbed the wrong mascara, no biggie though. I used Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express Big Eyes Mascara (lower lashes) and Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara for the upper lashes (2 coats). And then done!

Review: Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara

Review time! I actually have a few mascaras that I need to do reviews on, but this one right now is for Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara.

I purchased this, I think early May-ish; and being I'm nearly running on E with my other mascara, I've been reaching for this one more often. 

Wet n Wild states that this mascara provides the longest, thickest lashes ever and it instantly lifts for drama. True or False now is the question. Is it true? Or is this mascara a dud?

Favorites: May 2013

It's that time again! After a rather hellish day at work (do not get me started, trying to do the om thing and calm myself still), I mentioned previously that I skipped April Favorite because I only had two, and I didn't feel as if that was enough to do an April Favorites.

This time, I actually have more <cue cackling>, plus a non-beauty favorite :O! What could it be?!

Urban Decay Glinda Eyeshadow Palette

Graceful, fearless and bewitchingly beautiful, Glinda is the kind of witch we aspire to be. Inspired by the "good witch" from the upcoming movie OZ: The Great and Powerful, this palette includes shadow colors, eye pencil color and lip color - in short everything you need to create Glinda's spellbinding look, along with countless other looks.

This is THE palette that I have been primarily using through the month of April and May. I've also used it quite a few times in pictorials. I didn't a review on it because I figured everyone has seen it, and probably is tired of the views. But if anyone would like to see a review on here for it, please let me know! I'd be more than happy to do so. 

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar

This waterproof eye pencil delivers smooth, creamy, long-lasting color that glides onto skin without skipping or tugging.

Rockstar came with the Glinda palette, and I have to say I love using this eye liner for smudging and lining my water line more so than black eyeliner. Because it's a eggplant color (deep wine/purple) it tends to make my green eyes pop more than with regular black eyeliner.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Glinda

Rich and creamy lipstick with insane amounts of high-gloss shine—all captured in one chubby pencil.

As the color suggests, this was the High Gloss that came with the Glinda Palette, and it is/was exclusive to it as well. Because it's such a neutral color, I love wearing it when I have a smokey eye going on.

Studio Gear Cosmetics Impactfull Pro T.L.S. Mascara [review]

Studio tested, high impact Pro T.L.S. Mascara by Studio Gear THICKENS, LENGTHENS and SEPARATES the lashes, delivering maximum fullness and flare.

I definitely LOVE this mascara. I'm actually not sure, but I think I'm nearly running on E :( I've been using it sparingly since, but I'm honestly gearing up to just purchasing the full size. Although I am leery of that for reasons.

Orly Nail Lacquer in Mayhem Mentality

Take risks. Rock opposites. Start a riot with envy-inciting style. Now is the time to blur the line between energetic and outrageous - with Mash Up, the Summer 2013 collection from ORLY.

Although the formula for Orly polishes do not like my nails (instant chipping), I absolutely ADORE this color. It's like a neon-tangerine color. This was actually my polish to transition from springy colors to hot weather colors. Which certain, nameless folk at work do not like.

The Hobbit!

Yes, even though I started watching it late May, I have been kicking myself for not watching it sooner. I adored the Lord of the Rings movies, books as well as The Hobbit, but I didn't see the film adaption in the theater when it was released. Definitely something odd for me being I saw Fellowship of the Ring 15 times in theater (I'm quite serious, I have the stubs to prove it! I even dressed up as an elf for The Two Towers :O). And right now, like many of the fans, I'm eagerly awaiting the trailer for Desolation of Smaug! AH! Such a long wait!

Tutorial: Iron Man Mark 25 Inspired Eye Make-up

It's that time again! Yup, I have another Iron Man inspired pictorial. I had this one planned ever since I saw the movie, it was just the matter of trying to figure out what Mark it was. I'm still not entirely certain, but I went with the Mark 25.

If you look at the official Iron Man 3 game, the Mark 25 is mainly a dark charcoal/blue hued suit that has a vivid green arc reactor installed, not your typical arc reactor as it appears as a thin-ish slit in the chest plate. The eyes and accents on the helmet though also glow the same vivid green. Not to mention there's also yellow/gold to the armor as well. I originally thought the suit I saw in the movie (briefly), that it was a different suit, couldn't find any images of what I thought I saw, so the yellow/gold comes at the very end of the tutorial.

Started off with two bases. I wanted to make sure that green popped and the charcoal was dark enough. I put Pixi's Shell Sheen along the lash line of my lid, along the inner corner and half way along my lower lash line on the bottom. Then taking Pixi's Brun Beam Everywhere else up to the crease and the other half of the lower lash line. I tried to blend in, but both had already dried. Erk!

Next up, the green! After going through all my greens and not really finding that "neon green" color, I ended up finding this one from Wet n Wild from the I Dream of Greenie trio shadow set. It's the Eye Lid color. Super duper soft shadow that breaks all over the place when I close the lid. Anyway! I placed it all over the area where I placed shell Sheen, leaving the very inner corner bare. Also took it along Shell Sheen on the lower lash line. I went over this a few times to get it really vivid.

The charcoal next! I used e.l.f. Baked Eyeshadow in Dusk, placing it where Brun Beam is. Also taking it along Brum Beam on the lower lash line, meeting it with the Green from above. I then went over the green again.

For the inner corner, I didn't use the blue shift from Aura as I normally would, being the arc reactor is green, I stuck to the I Dream of Greenie trio, and used the light green labeled Brow Bone. Blending it a little bit into Dusk.

Taking South from Urban Decay's Glinda palette, I blended that into the crease and above. To blend out South, I used Illusion (not pictured) from the same palette.

Two black liners like from the last pictorial. I tight lined my upper lash line using Studio Gear Invicible Gel Liner in Invincible Onyx, then to line my lower water line, I used Rimmel London's Blackmail.

After that for Mascara I used e.l.f. Volume Plumping Mascara on the upper and lower lashes. 

A minor tweek that I did was add in a yellow to the inner corner, for this I used the Brow Bone from Wet n Wild's Bright Idea trio. End Result?

Review: Wet n Wild Coverall Cream Foundation

It's about time I got this review up and going! I had purchased this foundation in early April, and it's honestly the only foundation I've been using since I got it.

I've pretty much dubbed the Coverall my HG of drugstore foundations.

So without further ado, review!

Manicure: Peachy Gold

I have a love/hate relationship with peach/coral colors. They look so vibrant in the bottle, but dry down darker. Not looking for a dark peach color! When I was at Target, I came across one of Sally Hansen Insta-dri polishes called Peachy Breeze, figured why not!

I was definitely iffy because of my track records with peach/corals, but luckily Peachy Breeze dried down to exactly as it appears in the bottle! Such a vibrant, spring color! So completely happy with the color.

Now I've used the Insta-dri polishes before, love the colors, get frustrated because they always seem to streak with me, not to mention due to the fast dry down time. They can go uneven easily if the polish isn't applied quickly enough. This might not happen to everyone, but it happens to me.

Anyway, now for the manicure!

I only did an accent nail because of how gorgeous the color is. Originally I was going to do the gold on every nail because I figured the color would dry down darker, but nixed that after seeing it. I used two coats of Peachy Breeze. Although on my right hand, certain nails have a light third coat due to unevenness. This polish can be streaky and cause balding if you apply a second coat too soon.

Accent nail

Accent nail, I applied scotch tape along the cuticles/outer edges of the nail to protect the skin and so that clean up wouldn't be all over the place. I used the sponge method again, instead of using the "dry polish" technique. 

For the gold I used Wet n Wild Fergie Gold Album, starting from the cuticle and stippled up to the middle of the nail, then concentrated around the cuticle again to make that gold more opaque there.

Instead of using gold glitter, I used Pure Ice Dazzle Me, which is a silver glitter with hexagon holographic glitters.

Sealed everything with Sally Hansen Insta-dri top coat and done!

Video Tutorial: Metallic Hot Pink & Gold Manicure

I'm revisiting my metallic hot pink and gold manicure and this time, I actually did a video tutorial! Ha ha!

I did my very best with the tutorial, but my lighting isn't the greatest, I kept getting in the way of the light from behind me. Whoops!
