So, the mascara that I've been using in plenty of pictorials (I finally found out the name of the still photos tutorials!) is from the e.l.f. Studio line. There's several mascaras to the line, but this one happens to be their Volume Plumping Mascara. To me, when I hear Volume and Plumping for a mascara, it better work!
On a side note, I'm honestly thinking of having a HG mascara for each category that a mascara can fall in.
Now, onward to the review! DUN DUN DUNNN!

Packaging: If you're familiar with e.l.f.'s studio line then you already know that the studio line is package in all black, the opposite of their basic or regular line. This one is no different, it comes in a sleek black tube with white lettering. The mascara tube pretty much feels like it could be metal instead of a plastic tube. Actually, I'm positive that it is metal.

Brush: The brush itself is a standard mascara brush. It's a bristle one which is what I prefer over the plastic brushes. It comes to a tappered end which makes it easier to get the tiny lashes that are in the corners.
Texture/Formula: It's a dry/wet type of formula, a happy medium. It dries down quickly enough to put on an additional coat. The clumping isn't terribly with it either. I'm not sure if it can be seen in the brush photo, but it seems to have fibers mixed in, like little tiny fibers. I'm not sure if they're suppose to be there as it isn't mentioned, but I only noticed it now. This isn't waterproof though, as it can be rinsed off with just plain water. So I have experienced some minor flaking during the day, one or two pieces, nothing over the top, a little bit smudging, but that can be fixed.
Overall Verdict: I like the mascara, while I don't think it's perfect, it does hold up to it's claim of volume. Several coats, and you can achieve the dramatic volume you're looking for, but because it isn't waterproof, it can flake and smudge, although I've only experience minor with both. I haven't noticed too much clumping, but when the lashes stick together they easily separate when you sweep the brush over them.

I would certainly say to give them a go.
DeleteI've never tried a mascara from elf but they do have some decent eyeliners and other products. I hear a lot of raves on some products and a lot of rants on others. Seems like a hit and miss brand.

Thank you :D
DeleteThe Studio line seems to have a lot of hits among it. Issue I really have though is a lot of their foundations are very dark even for light skin tones. Not enough variety =\
