Review: Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Collection

You have no idea how excited I was when I received these last Saturday. I had caved and purchased the entire set when Jesse's Girl had the Frosted Gum Drops up for pre-order. These are actually my first texture polishes. Originally, I thought they were already in Rite Aid (whoops!) and went all the way up to where Walmart is (only Rite Aid around is near that store), much to my dismay, they hadn't been released yet!

I didn't get a chance at trying them out until late, late Saturday night (or was it Sunday Morning) because I was seeing just how long my St. Patrick's Day nails would last (A FULL WEEK!).

Without further ado!

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops
There are six colors in total for this collection (now being sold separately), that range from an orange to a purple. They do not all have the same finish though, as I'll mention further down below.

Application as the website states:
For full effect, do not use a base or top coat. Using thin coats, apply 1-3 coats (for full coverage), allowing each layer to dry completely in between layers for full textured effect. This special textured formula may take up to 10 minutes to dry completely matte.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Crushed Candy
Crushed Candy
First one up Crushed Candy. This is a pure purple with silver glitter flecks in it. I have to say it photographs with almost having a pinkish hue to it. Gorgeous color. Two coats and it was fully opaque.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Blueberry Fizz
Blueberry Fizz
Blueberry Fizz is a berry blue with silver glitter flecks in it. This one is definitely on the thinner side, 3 coats would be necessary for it to be fully opaque, but I only used two.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Rock Candy
Rock Candy
Rock Candy. Teal with silver glitter flecks. (ignore my dry hands!) No issues with application, 2 coats and this one was fully opaque.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Hot Cinnamon
Hot Cinnamon
Hot Cinnamon. This lives up to its name. It is a fire-infused red. Seriously, first time I put this on, it instantly reminded me of the Cinnamon Hearts that are available at Valentine's Day. It is gorgeous. It took me quite a few times to capture the color because my camera just kept freaking out because that's how awesome this polish is. Two coats and it was fully opaque.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Sugar Rush
Sugar Rush
Sugar Rush is a orange-red-pink. This was another one that drove my camera bonkers when I was trying to capture it. Two coats and it was fully opaque.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream is exactly what its name uses. It is a tangerine orange. It is gorgeous! Being this was the last color I swatched I decided to do an accent nail using this one, Hot Cinnamon and Sugar Rush. I used two coats for this and it was fully opaque.

Texture: Sand-like texture, it's definitely different for me. Of course my Mother asked if it meant I could sand things with my nails now. /headdesk

Formula: I had no issues with the formula, save for Blueberry Fizz being a little bit more thinner than the other five. Other than that they all worked brilliantly well.

Jesse's Girl JulieG Frosted Gum Drops

Noteworthy: I did apply a base coat because it's out of habit, I didn't see any change when it came to the formula or anything of the alike. HOWEVER, when I swatched these on my nail wheel/plate, I tried applying a top coat to them. The top coat seemed to have absorbed into the polish! It doesn't ruin the polish at all, but it will not give any of them a glossy coat or transform them. It disappears... into the sand.

Overall Verdict: I love them! I sincerely hope that more colors get released. I especially hope that maybe a six piece neon collection could be made (that would be AH-MAY-ZING!).

Price: $3.99 each

Availability: Rite Aid or via Jesse's Girl website
